How it works............. 

Today's economic climate has made us think again and once more explore the idea of using water as a clean fuel source in our fight against the ever-increasing fuel costs and to reduce the harmful emissions internal combustion engines produce.

Water is comprised of two atoms of Hydrogen and one atom of Oxygen or H2O which makes it perfect as a fuel source.  Our unique HHO system will separate a water molecule into its component atoms (H H & O or HHO). We can do this using very little electricity, under 1 amp. This gas is then injected into the engine and oxidised as fuel. The resulting energy is 2.5 times more powerful than petrol/gasoline.  This totally changes Combustion! The by-product of the combustion is water vapour.  Therefore, as fuel, water is powerful, cheap and pollution free. The improvement in emissions and mpg far outweigh the energy required to produce the gas and this is a FACT!  Please see our Testimonials page.

   

Of course you cannot fill your car with water yet, so for now we have to "split" water molecules into Hydrogen & Oxygen gas and use this to improve efficiency.  Our hope is that our vehicle engines will try to balance optimum performance with fuel economy - the de Verde Hydrogen System will increase both, using the 'trapped' power of water which is released on-board-automatically as you drive!  A single litre of distilled water can produce many thousands of litres of trapped gas, so you have to top it up from time to time (6 months to a year.) The final result is felt as you drive away and the smell of fuel from your exhaust disappears. Toxic exhaust gases NOx, HCs, CO are reduced to the point where they are almost undetectable - please see our Test Result page.   

In a "Nutshell" our Hydrogen Cell is an on-board Hydrogen/Oxygen Generator, which changes combustion for the better!. Running at around 1 amp and producing just the right amount of Gas to change combustion, which will impact emissions, response and MPG! Our systems work using advanced technology which set us apart from all other hydrogen systems worldwide. In short our systems are fully guaranteed to work. This is not a scam; it really does work and is fully sustainable. Many customers are experiencing high Mpg gains on certain vehicles; this will vary from 10 to 40%depending on the type of vehicle.

Our unique Hydrogen Cells uses low amps, to produce HHO Gas tested in extreme conditions. The cells are robust and designed to work within the normal operating temperature of most vehicles.  In normal Winter conditions, the cells are hardy enough to perform, with regular daily use, the cells are unlikely to freeze*. If frozen the cells will start to defrost and produce gas in minutes!  Designed and built in-house our systems are unique and unlike Hi-Amp USA Systems, are Low-Amp No overheating, no strain to the battery/alternator and no flat batteries in the morning!  We are also the only company in the UK whose product is covered by Product Liability Insurance and have passed CE approval for fitting on vehicles within the EU.

*Our Hydrogen system includes a realistic 36 months'/36,000 miles Warranty, should your cells fail, we will repair or replace.  (subject to conditions).* In addition an extended Warranty is now available over and above the standard 36 months/36,000 miles.  At any time between the initial purchase and up to 30 months thereafter, an additional 12 months/12,000 miles Warranty may be purchased for an additional £99 + VAT.    Contact us for more information.

Because Hydrogen is only produced when the engine is running, none is stored in the vehicle.  The system is fuse-link protected and fitted with a temperature monitor which will cut the power to the system if the temperature of the atmosphere, or the electrolyte, rises too much.  This is an extra safety device in case of very hot weather and hold-ups in busy traffic.  An in-dash switch, with a green (Hydrogen) LED, optionally allows for total driver control.

Lower emissions are achieved as the Hydrogen assists the fossil fuel used to "burn" more efficiently.  Furthermore, burning the additional Oxygen supports the elimination of any waste and noxious products; and any excess hydrogen and oxygen in the exhaust will be converted back into water.

Vehicles which store gas come under the Vehicle Special Order regulations (VSO). De Verde cells do not store gas, so we are exempt. The system is wired using a "Smart Relay", or direct alternator feed, to ensure that the cell only operates when the engine is running. An optional On/Off Switch may be wired in by our Approved and Qualified Installers. 

The cell's recommended installation site is inside the front Grill area of the car where it will run cool at all times.  All cells have either header tanks or easy water top-ups as standard. In freezing temperatures, the cell has been tested to function to -24oC.

Safety is important to us and we build safety in as standard. 

Exhaust emissions on vehicles with our cells installed commonly result in near zero readings in the UK MOT test; this includes HC, CO, ad further, NOx. Dirty diesel emissions, smoke and smell will be cleaned up.

The only reason vehicles need a Catalytic Converter is to clean up excess unburned fuel and any impurities, added to the fuel, that would otherwise be exhausted; but with de Verde Hydrogen Cells installed – resulting from the enhanced ‘burn’ they support – close to total combustion is achieved. In effect, a Catalytic Converter becomes redundant in an HOD supplemented vehicle. Catalytic Converters will not be damaged by this system, nor will Petrol EFI Management Systems become de-stabilised.


Furthermore, since using our cells virtually eliminates all contaminants in the exhaust, your engine will run cleaner and essential oil changes will be needed less frequently; delivering yet further cost savings for you! The first thing you will notice after installation is how much less pressure will be needed on the accelerator. There will be more power generated for equal fuel input. All these benefits far outweigh the overhead required to produce the Hydrogen and Oxygen gases; as a result, the 14.7:1 stoichiometric air/fuel ratio will not change and ECU mapping parameters will not be exceeded.

Since our products are constantly under development; we are pleased to announce that we have successfully applied for a Patent for our latest design. This has been agreed, 'pending final acceptance', by the UK International Patent Office (IPO) under their Application No. 1101935.3. During the performance of the IPO's 'due diligence' processes, we will continue with the final design, bench development and extended test running of this new design; prior to announcement of the new cell for general sale to the public.


Our current, highly successful, Hydrogen Generator Cell will remain for sale and it will be improved by our work on this new design. As and when appropriate, finalised, sub-components of our latest planned product become available they may be included in our present design for on-going sales. We will continue to maintain our normal policy of delivering the best product we can to our customers.

TAXIS, Buses and City Vehicles

 

Taxis, buses and city vehicles are responsible for many pollutant gases, mainly CO, HC & NoX. Our systems have been independantly tested and we have proof of massive reduction in emissions to near zero.

Update: 09/10: We now have independent emission reduction test results. This confirms that emissions are reduced with our systems to near zero levels.  Many Councils have a problem with NoX emissions and a de Verde System will address this issue.

We are presently fitting our De Verde Hydrogen Cell systems to a range of taxis, including the iconic London Black Cab". Without our Hydrogen Technology, these cabs will soon be forced off the road by EU emissions requirements. Our systems will ensure these cabs are around for years to come. We have now completed "Proof of Concept Testing" and are now fitting our systems to taxis. Emissions are near zero, mpg up by around 12mpg. (typical-urban stop/start driving-more on motorways. SMALL Cars

Many benefits can be gained by fitting our Systems to small, petrol engine cars up to 2ltrs. A typical 1200/1400cc car will see high fuel gains up to 50% or more in most cases. 

LARGE Engines Including V8s

These thirsty motors can be vastly improved using de Verde Hydrogen Systems. A typical large petrol V8 will see excellent fuel and emission improvements. We run a small fleet of Gas Guzzlers that have seen the many benefits and are available for demonstration by appointment. A V8 4.0 Ltr Petrol with 100% fuel gains? Surely not!

OLDER Diesels Pre 2006

These old inefficient diesels can be greatly improved, lower  emissions, more low-down torque, more responsive and better MPG!

NEW, MODERN Diesels 2006 Onwards with DPF Filter Systems Fitted

The DPF filter "restricts" efficiency gains. It is a Carbon-Capture system designed to get these vehicles through the strict EU emissions now in force. It doesn’t remove carbon, but collects it in the restrictive exhaust filter, so from the moment you drive your new vehicle, it is collecting carbon deposits in the exhaust system, so the  efficiency of the engine will decrease until "regeneration". The idea is that when the car exceeds the urban speed limits it injects fuel into the system and will "burn" away the deposits in the exhaust filter. The manufacturers call this "Regeneration", however, in practise this is a problem, if for example, you are a Taxi dirver and do not exceed the Urban speed limits, which results in it eventually "Clogging up" and the car will limp home in "safe" mode. This is very expensive to fix and a real nuisance.  The way to get more MPG/low emissions is to improve thermal efficiency, which means no restrictive ECUs or Exhaust/Air Filters! These type of restrictive filter systems do not allow the engines to remove exhaust gases fast enough - this results in an engine performing well below its full potential. If a de Verde Hydrogen system is fitted, the exhaust will run much cleaner, and in most cases the torque and therefore MPG will improve. Further gains can be made by totally removing the DPF system, you can obtain more information from us on request. In short we can improve the mpg on modern diesels vans and cars, which will make a huge difference to your fuel bills.

BUS and PSVs      

We have undertaken a development project with an Independent Coach Operator to fit our Hydrogen systems to Optare buses. We expect cleaner exhaust emissions, better MPG and will report here at the end of the POC programme. Update 11/2010: we have a 50% increase in mpg on a  seven ltr Truck. We are using this data to develop the Bus system.

MOTORHOMES

As a recent Motorhome owner, I was amazed at the lack of power on hills, even the smallest incline meant a drop of 2 or more gears!. Just fitting our latest cells completely transformed the driving experience and this vehicle now stays in 5th gear most of the time now, goes up hills with ease without dropping gears, more torque, smoother running, improved MPG and near zero emissions!  Any motorhome can benefit from our Hydrogen-On-Demand Systems.

 

MOPEDS/MOTORCYCLES

New Application - We have developed systems for Moped/Motorcycles and the benefits are Near Zero Emissions - 0.00% CO, 0.00% NOx, 1ppm HC.  Improved bottom end torque, smoother, more responsive ride and better mpg. A recent project was to convert a 50cc 4-stroke Moped to run a de Verde HOD Hydrogen system. This involved fitting a small HOD cell to the bike, which reports improved performance, more torque, which is useful on hills, smoother running, near zero emissions and an extra 100 miles per tankful!

MARINE HYDROGEN SYSTEMS

de Verde Technologies Limited are committed to developing a range of Marine Hydrogen Systems. In 2009 we tested a prototype on a 33ft vessel, powered by twin Mercury 6ltr V8 petrol engines. This was a success, and on the strength of that, we are designing safe, durable and long-lasting HHO Hydrogen systems for both Marine pleasure craft and commercial use.

Our Marine Hydrogen Cells are covered by our Product liability Insurance which is a requirement for MCA approval. Our Product liability Insurance is provided by AIG (UK) through Knighthood Corporate Insurance.

Technical Note:  The cells resist freezing for 24hrs if switched off, to prevent freezing in extreme cold temperatures.  A voltage in the cells must be maintained at regular intervals, just running the engine for a few minutes a day will prevent freezing. We recommend normal frost prevention measures are taken in Winter. A Blanket over the Grill is usually enough overnight.
